Content Boom
AI-assisted content and SEO software, sold as lifetime deals.
What prompted it
Anyone publishing on WordPress does the same chores for every post: draft it, write the meta title and description, sort out the images, publish, repeat.
When AI writing tools became good enough to be useful, the obvious question was why that help lived in a separate tab. Content Boom was my answer: put it inside the publishing workflow.
What it offered
Content Boom was an AI-assisted content and SEO product for WordPress and related publishing workflows. Its capabilities have included:
- Content generation
- SEO metadata
- Image-related optimization
- Automation
How it was built
It started small and grew a feature at a time, mostly in the direction early users pushed it. That is a good way to build something people use, and a reliable way to end up with a longer roadmap than you planned.
Lifetime deals
Content Boom was sold as lifetime deals. First through private communities, where feedback is blunt and fast. Then on AppSumo, where it went live in July 2024 and included an AppSumo Select deal.
Worth being precise: a lifetime deal is a one-time purchase. It is real commercialization, with real customers paying real money. It is not recurring revenue.
The AppSumo experience
A launch like that compresses a year of customer conversations into a few weeks. Questions, feature requests and support all arrive at once, from people who have paid and expect an answer.
It is the fastest product education I know of. It is also the point where you find out whether your onboarding actually explains anything.
Lessons learned
- Lifetime-deal customers are generous with feedback and exacting about value. Both are useful.
- One-time revenue ends. The support obligation does not.
- Distribution deserves as much thought as the product. A marketplace gives you reach on its terms, not yours.
